Mr. and Mrs. Halleck resided in San Antonio for a number of years during which time Mrs. Halleck was active in Jewish Communal Life, participating in the activities of Hadassah, Pioneer Women and B’nai B’rith Women organizations and the Jewish Welfare Armed Services Committee. It was in the Armed Services Committee that Mrs. Halleck found her niche through her constant devotion and interest to the welfare of local servicemen, and for which, she was noted throughout the city. Upon Mrs. Halleck’s death on January 27, 1958, Mr. Halleck continued to follow in his wife's footsteps, devoting many precious hours each week to the programs of the Jewish Welfare Board. Neither inclement weather nor personal discomfort detered Mr. Halleck from performing his duties as a volunteer in meeting the welfare needs of the men and women of the local Armed Forces. It can truly be said, that the Hallecks have always been kind, understanding people, unostentatious in their living, but always with an out-stretched hand to the lonely and the needy. It is in loving memory of Mrs. Halleck and in endearing tribute to Mr. Halleck, our beloved parents, that we children dedicate this page of the Book of Reminiscences.
