Jacob and Ester R utin

Jacob and Ester Rubin, Mr. Rubin’s parents, lived in a little Hungarian village all their lives. His grandparents and great grandparents also resided there. His parents came from a very religious family; they were Hasidims. There were twelve children in the family. Six died at an early age and six survived until Hitler took away three of them. Mr. Frank Rubin left home when he was nine years old because of hunger and poverty. He worked on a ship for three years and came to the United States at the age of twelve. Although, just a boy, he did not forget his parents, and constantly sent them money each month until their death. Besides Frank, there is a brother, Harold, in South Bend, Indiana, and brother Leo, who lives in New York. Frank, being the eldest, brought both his brothers to the United States.
